The Beginning of the End.

     Swiftstar opened her eyes. She was in a lush, green forest. Have I lost a life? she thought, thinking it must be so, because she was no where near the moon-stream to visit with starclan. Slowly, she remembered. There was nothing wrong, with her, so she must be dreaming. It was a good dream, too. She could here the forest twittering with bird-song. Swiftstar could hear mice squeaking near the roots of the trees. And there were flowers everywhere. Blossoming with different colors. But she sensed something behind her. Something dark, and sinister. She whirled around, seeing something entirely different. There was a line, a line between the dark and the light. The dark side had bare trees, that looked as pale as bones, A thick, choking blackness just rolled out from all directions, and Swiftstar wrinkled her nose in disgust. These places were complete opposites, and after a few heartbeats she recognized where she was. At the boundary between Starclan and the Dark forest.
     Swiftstar held back a gasp, but curiousity overcame her at once. What was she doing, here? Of all places? She peered into the darkness, then recoiled. A pair of gleaming eyes were staring right back at her, and the owner of those eyes stepped out where she could see it.
  A large, muscular, grey and white cat walked up to Swiftstar. Scars criss-crossed on his pelt. Recognition flowed though Swiftstar like a black wave. It was Greystar, the leader of Brokenclan.
  "Your dead?" she asked him, wondering to herself why he wouldn't be attacking, and came to that conclusion. Greystar growled. "Unfortunatley, I am." he said. "I was sent here to tell you this:"

"you have two choices,

 only one you can cover,
 one leads to death,
 and death the other.
 Then an obstacle,
 you cannot pass,
 so live each day,
 like it's your last ."

He rasped, and then chuckled. "Three lives left, Swiftstar..... the time is already dwindling.........."
